Hanson is a leader in building and construction materials with an extensive production and logistics network across Australia.
Hanson supply a comprehensive range of high-quality concrete, aggregates and sand using world-class technologies and service platforms. They also produce road base, asphalt and sustainable and recycled construction materials for civil construction and infrastructure projects.
Hanson is part of the HeidelbergCement Group, which employs over59,000 people across five continents. HeidelbergCement is a global leader in aggregates and has leading positions in cement, concrete and heavy building products.
When Hanson launched Workplace from Facebook, they were looking for a solution to connect the unconnected. With more than 70% of their workforce deskless and spread over 300 sites across Australia they needed to find one simple, mobile first way to connect everyone no matter where and when they worked.
Communicating with employees had become increasingly difficult and with the construction industry going through a lot of change, Hanson needed away to connect with their people to relay the change and provide clarity on the direction of the business.
Since launching Workplace in October 2019, it has become Hanson’s critical main channel of communication. At concrete plant and quarry level, it is the place for all important information, whilst at the leadership level it has given CEO Phil Schacht a platform to connect with everyone at Hanson no matter where they are, what they do and when they do it.
Before Workplace, employees worked in isolation of each other with limited ability to share and learn from one another. Workplace has given employees a voice and a renewed enthusiasm to continually deliver world-class technologies, service platforms and products to support customers who are building Australia's future.
And with the announcement of COVID-19, Workplace has allowed leaders to communicate to the entire business, removing any hierarchy to keeping employees safe and operations running.
