Moving its Brisbane office to a 2850m2 single ‘park rise’ floor in premium CBD office space, DLA took the opportunity to take a fresh approach to its workplace environment. The new completely open plan office design was based on the concepts of flexibility, efficiency, innovation (future proof) and collaboration. Videoconferencing, virtual meeting, digital signage and other audio visual technologies were required for large open plan function and meeting spaces, community and break out zones, quiet rooms, offices and workstation hubs. DLA Piper Brisbane Managing Partner Jim Holding said the office design “will enable our people to provide the best possible support to our clients, both now and in the future.”
DLA Piper decided to go 100% open plan with its Brisbane office to ensure a more efficient use of floor space, giving the organisation the ability to work more collaboratively. Open plan also saves on internal structural costs, allowing DLA Piper to invest in creating a vibrant work environment and more functional breakout spaces.
After successfully completing the implementation of room control systems, audio visual facilities and collaboration technologies for DLA Piper’s new Sydney office in 2014 and the refurbishment of its client floor in Melbourne, POMT was chosen to provide the strategy, design, implementation and support for these solutions for the new Brisbane office.
