As part of a complete refurbishment of its head office campus in Sydney, Qantas required AV, collaboration and workspace management solutions to complete the business transformational aspects. That business transformation was focused on its people: increase interaction and collaboration, build corporate culture and ultimately drive greater operational efficiencies. The solutions required were for Qantas’ new ‘front of house’ and over 180 spaces throughout the campus, including highly specialised functional areas for training and events, operational management, and emergency response co-ordination.
Founded in the Queensland outback in 1920, Qantas has grown to be Australia’s largest domestic and international airline, employing over 30,000 people. Qantas is widely regarded as the world’s leading long distance airline and one of the strongest brands in Australia. It has built a reputation for excellence in safety, operational reliability, engineering and maintenance, and customer service.
In 2012, Qantas embarked on a comprehensive redevelopment of its headquarters in Sydney. The project completely transformed a 1980s office campus into a high quality and collaborative work place. Changes to the complex included an enclosed ‘internal street’ area linking three of the Qantas buildings and incorporating event space and communal facilities, office spaces encouraging interaction and engagement, and a new front-of-house experience and entry hall.
Peace of Mind Technology (POMT) was involved from the early stages of the refurbishment, providing strategic advice and direction, and was also engaged to design and implement the AV, collaborative and workspace management solutions required. Since deployment, POMT provides ongoing support for the solutions, including embedded on-site resources.
